Little House on the Prairie: A seemingly typical argument between Nels and Harriet Oleson reaches a whole new level when female activist Elizabeth Smith passes through Walnut Grove with a petition, designed to encourage men to officially share equal property rights with their wives. When Nels realizes (for the first time) that he, as the man of the house, is "in charge" of everything from the family business to the children, he orders Harriet to step back and hand over the authority that she monopolized for so many years. Not one to compromise her personal integrity, Harriet storms out to live at Nellie's hotel. Upset by the raw deal that she feels women receive in their marriages, Caroline butts heads with Charles, follows Harriet's lead, and leaves her husband to take care of everything at the house while she--along with several other females in town--takes a stand. As the peaceful nature of Walnut Grove faces a major test, who will eventually come out on top?
