Little House on the Prairie: Reverend Alden offers 15-year-old Mary her very first teaching job in a backwoods community, where he presides over some Sunday services. School is being implemented in the town as a Church project, and while Mary is determined to do her best, she experiences immediate difficulty with the timid students, along with the bullying father of the family with whom she is boarding. Fortunately, things start to really look up as Mary works her teaching magic on the children, but her greatest challenge yet is surviving the wrath of Miss Peal, who opposes all classroom instruction and has brainwashed the entire community into following her superstitious ways. When the woman's recent antics manage to drive Mary out of town and back home, Mary must decide if her career is important enough to put up the fight of her life.
